When we lived in Bakersfield we would use 166 in our RV towing and also I used it many times in my other vehicles, very safe highway. If going to Morro Bay we would use 46.

Hwy 46 off of hwy 99 goes straight to hwy. 101, then go south to Pismo is the most direct. Good RV roads.
