Eureka to Grass Valley

Take 101 to 20 then east. I live in Grass Valley and take this route all the time when going to the coast north of San Francisco.

We pulled our 26' Jayco Jayfeather over to 299 West from Redding to Redwood National Park last August, I will not take 299 again. There was extensive construction going on making a very narrow and curving 1 lane each way road that is already tight tighter. Recommend against taking 299 from Eureka.

We did the I-5 to to 99 to 20 route in June with no problem whatsoever. Just remember to slow way down if someone is coming your way on the narrow section of 20.

Alternate way would be Hwy 299 to Redding, I-5 south to Hwy 99, past Chico to Hwy 70 south to Hwy 20 east to Grass Valley. In Grass Valley I stay at the Nevada County fairgrounds RV park. Its available if no events are going on. Have to call for reservations.

I would take 101 south to hwy 20 and take hwy 20 east to Grass Valley. Two lane on 20 but, IMHO, much more enjoyable than I-80
