Hudson Valley, NY to Myrtle Beach, SC

Sorry was away...In MB camping...lol. I would go to 501 (3rd exit in SC NOT the first at SOTB and take to rt22 then into MB for the travel park. You'll pass where we just bought a new house in Conway...love SC can't wait to leave the Vampire state of NY

don't know because I've only done the trip that once. It seemed fine and the DW wasn't holding on for dear life so I guess she was ok with it as well.

We stopped in Fredricksburg VA at the KOA there.

We could not find a spot anywhere last, everyone booked due to the NASCAR race. We ended up spending the night at the cracker barrel in Ashland. Hitting the road again now.

Once I am down in the area, what is the best route to take off of 95 to go to North Myrtle Beach? Looking at a map, it seems that 40 would be ok to 17. If I stay on 95, then it seems like 501 to 17 north. Any suggestions?

Not sure exactly what route you took, but if you stay on the GSP to the end, take the Cape May Lewis Ferry and then US-113/13/17 all the way to Myrtle Beach, you avoid Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington and Richmond.

How is rt 288, is that a 4 lane highway, or a slow moving 2 lane? It seems to be the best route. We will be leaving around 9 am from NY, which would probably put us right in the middle of rush hour down by DC, which is what I am trying to avoid.

When I said that it was just going to be and the kids, so I was going to just do 200-250 mile days, but looks like my wife will be with us now so we will probably just stop once. Haven't sided where, but probably around half way. We are not specifically planning on going to Myrtle Beach...and just found out friends will be in Savannah that week so may just visit MB on the way back in the second week.

I went straight thru Richmond in the middle of the day last Oct and never had to slow down. I prefer taking I78 to I81 then I66 to Rt17 to I95 to bypass big city traffic. Americamp is fine for overnight.
