Rick is homing in on the Guerrero/Michoacan coastline with landfall predicted after midnight tonight. At the moment, it looks like it will make landfall right around Lazaro Cardenas, and with any luck remain a category 1 storm.

Expect serious problems on Hwy 200 from about Acapulco to Manzanillo, with the potential to have bridges out and landslides. The road up from the coast to Patzcuaro will also probably have some serious problems.

Fortunately, repairs and detours occur quickly here, but do expect to see damage.

The US Canadian border opens Nov 8, and we had guesstimated that the RV parks here in Zihuatanejo would have people rolling in on the 15th of November. Just remember that the last stretch of road could have some issues and plan for extra time.

Sitting here in Zihuatanejo listening to the rain with everything put away, just waiting for the wind to hit!!!

Good luck with the pump! Fingers crossed. But as a once inground pool owner (50x25 feet), if the refurb is functioning for a few days/a week, you should be good to go almost as good as a new pump.

....only a very select few in Canada will be getting a mRNA 3rd booster; the very elderly living in full care or partial elder care facilities, or those in a very bad way (ie. undergoing cancer or other debilitating medical treatments). This varies only slightly between Canadian Provinces.

This leaves millions of Canadians falling through the cracks (virtually close to the entire population 65 to 79 years of age).

The pool pump was just delivered and installed. They picked it up Wednesday at 5 and delivered it at noon on Saturday.

They dried it out, replaced the bearings and varnished the windings and bearings. They dried out the electronics and sent them to someone.

So far, so good. They will come back next Saturday to check it and make sure it is still working perfectly. If it is, we pay them 8,500 pesos (we insisted and gave them half today). For Mexico, that is a lot of money. In comparison to buying a new pump, it's not a bad deal at all.

It's currently filtering water like mad, but it still looks awful. We'll add floculant tonight and vacuum tomorrow so it should look a lot better.

I have found new pumps in Arizona on eBay and with shipping and VAT the total cost will/would be just under $2,000 USD. Hopefully the dried out one will survive!!!

Talley, couldn't the tech's set you up with a temporary pump setup to keep the pool clean?

The technicians made it here on Wednesday and pulled the pump to take back to their shop. They agreed with Pentair that the pump is toast, but they would look at it.

Thursday mid day they got back to us and sent photos of the windings, the bearings and the electronics. They said they thought it might be salvageable but it would take, "many hours." They hope to bench test it today, Friday.

In the meantime, I have located several, the best price being on MercadoLibre, $50,955 pesos, 11 day delivery time. Much better than what we expected, but a long time to wait for one. Still toying with a run to the US, but for the few hundred US dollars savings, it wouldn't be worth the wear and tear.

In the meantime, we are brushing the pool daily and keeping the chemicals a bit high. It looks bad, but it's all we can do.

We are replacing, if necessary, fingers crossed, the pump with exactly the same one for a great reason. I know people will doubt this information, but our pool is large, 15 meters by 4 meters. The pool room shares an electric meter with the washer and dryer and the water pump. Our last CFE bill, for two months, and we know it's accurate, was 64 pesos. We normally run the pump 6 hours a day.

Expensive pump, very low electrical usage.

There are a lot of pump Distributors in Mexico. Some carry US pumps. However you would have to go to a bigger city. No need to go NOB
$5000 for a pump seems awfully high. Google is your friend.

Instead of screwing around, Ray is planning to just call the manufacturer of the pump tomorrow and find out the scoop. Doesn't matter, even if it's a couple of weeks without a pump, we'll use the pool in all of it's ugliness!!! We are so not tense about this. We had our first hurricane with not too much damage.

Does your Mexican homeowner's policy cover flooding? Our policy does and it's paid off twice. Worth checking.
