Hwy 95/55 from Coeur d'Alene to Boise, Idaho

Looking to go Hwy 95 south from Coeur d'Alene to Hwy 55, destination Boise, Idaho.....40' MH towing a Jeep....

Any issues I'm missing with these highways??
  • Just did this route a month ago. Easy, nice drive. Like mentioned before, two hills of 6%, but a good road.
  • just don't try mccall to boise on a sunday afternoon as traffic is terrible, other wise a nice drive
  • Just did it a month ago. Some road construction and narrow lanes but very manageable and well marked. Enjoy.
  • Beautiful drive, enjoy it.

You will have Lewiston Hill & Whitebird, both of which are long steep descents but good highways.

Between New Meadows & McCall, the highway is somewhat narrow & you'll have a small summit to pass over, but still not that bad. At New Meadows you can continue on 95 south to Boise, but it's longer & not near as scenic & you'd miss McCall, a beautiful little community.

Just South of Cascade & before you get to Cougar Mountain Lodge, which is 18 miles, you'll have a another narrow curvy stretch of highway, but only for a few miles, just take your time & you'll be fine.

Stop & say hello to Jerry, the owner of the Cougar Mountain. Him & his children run the place & have so since 1994, if I remember correctly. He's 80, but you wouldn't know it.

You'll have another somewhat narrow & curvy stretch of road about 5 miles or so long just before entering Banks.

After going through Horseshoe Bend you'll have a summit to go over that's about 8-miles long but 4-lanes wide, very nice highway.

You're just 15-20 minutes from Boise after reaching the summit.
