Hyw 199 from Grants Pass to Crescent City California

Can anyone tell us what this road is like pulling a 32 ft 5th wheel. We have read negative reviews and really don't want to attempt if it is as bad as everyone says but what route would we take from Grants Pass? We are in Grants Pass now and head out Monday. Please We need suggestions. Thank you so much

    The highest point near the state border is a tunnel. Then the California side follows a major river, curvy but no significant grades. Just stay in your lane and give logging trucks and semis space. Closer to the coast you get into redwoods.

    We are not that long, we have a 29' class C with toad on a dolly, but had absolutely no problems with it what so ever, maybe who ever said it was bad just can't drive in the first place. :R

    several hundred rvs use it every day without a problem,even the ones complaining
    about it seemed to have made it ok. the road is fine if you follow the speed limit

    It is not as bad as you must have heard. I have been taking it from Medford to Brookings with a truck camper and boat, 26' fifth wheel, and now a truck with a 15' boat on the top pulling a 30' travel trailer for nearly 50 years. If it worries you, just slow down. Enjoy the beautiful scenery.

    Outside Crescent City the road narrows and has many curves. You should not have any problems as many big rigs travel the highway. It is the last I am thinking 10 miles before intersection with US 101.
