I 95 in Philadelphia

For anyone planning on traveling through the Philadelphia area anytime soon, DON'T !

Major fire last night and that caused 95 to collapse between Acadamy and Cottman exits... BOTH north and south sides are completely closed...

Im thinking that they MAY be able to divert traffic to the southbound side in the coming days but not sure of the integrity of that side...
  • UPDATE **

They ( state engineers ) is saying the southbound side is NOT structurally sound...

    What a cluster !

In May of 2007 a gas tanker caused a collapse of I 580 in the Bay Area, Caltrains contractor replaced the span in 26 days!
  • Russ,

I WISH PENDOT was close to that efficient . . .

They are notorious for being sloooooooooow.

AND...... Food for thought, the section that collapsed was just finished, as they are redoing the entire section of 95 in the PHL area including every overpass being ripped out and replaced with new.

I believe that section reopened earlier this year

Well that should help, and plans and designs are current.
