It's not a horrible road. As I previously said, been a few years since I've been on it. But it is rougher as far as my memory goes compared to say I-29 in the Dakotas, or I-90 across South Dakota.

But it is entirely drive-able. Gosh, there is a lot of traffic in places on it.

Doesn't have to be a concrete road, asphalt, gravel, whatever.
They all go to hell with freezing/thawing temps. If you've ever driven on a gravel road when the frost is coming out and the road is heaving, you'll know what I mean.

It was horrible 20+ years ago too. Concrete roads and areas with large temperature extremes do not mix.

Ran across it the last summer. It was mostly under construction and down to one lane. Might not be to bad now?
