The springs warm you up enough that it doesn't feel too cold. Similar to folks who sit in a sauna then run out and roll in the snow, it's a nice tingle. At the hot springs, you can also see where people roll in the snow to cool off.

We always take insulating Styrofoam to stand on in the change room, so our feet are on something not freezing. And we have our fleece clothing all lined up to slip on quickly after we're out of our swimsuits. A fleece hat/toque takes care of the wet head too.

One visit, my swimsuit started to freeze up too quickly after I was out of the water. So I went back into the water and took it off there then dashed to the changeroom. Because it was -40, no one else was around, so no worries about offending anybody.

When getting in, it helps to have your suit on under your clothes, quickly strip off your clothes in the change room, line them up in the right order to put them back on quickly when you're out again, then RUN to the pool.

Actually, winter is the only time when my hubby can tolerate the hot end of the pool, because it cools enough for him to enjoy. In summer, the hot end is just too hot.

The pool is also quieter at -40, possibly because not many people want to leave their vehicle turned off for an extended period at that temperature, but we have the generator to power the block heater while we relax inside the RV after our soak.

As long as you have flip-flops so your feet don't stick to the icy deck, it's surprisingly easy. Well, it's not "easy", but not as bad as you probably expect. :)

We totally agree about Toad River Resort.It was our favorite this past August. Can't wait to get back there!

Looks like we won't camp at Liard Springs- just pull in for a short bit so Momma can go and "wallow in the water for a while".
