Mi'kmaq Pow Wow
I will be attending a Mi'kmaq pow wow tomorrow. Should be very interesting to see how much the First Nations pow wows differ from those of the Plains Indians back home, and how much they may be similar.
The culture of the indigenous population of the Maritimes, just as that of the western coastal regions of Canada was built around the sea whereas the culture of my people, the Comanche, and other Plains Indians was built around the buffalo. In common are the buffalo, bear and eagle. We, of course, were wagon-burners. Perhaps the Mi'kmaq were boat-burners. Don't know.
I'm looking forward to it.
