NY to Arches National Park - further questions

Question

Is there a route specific weather report I can get that will list the lows/highs along my route? Basically, route 80 to 76 to 70 unless snow is predicted because I am not doing mountain roads in snow or sleet.

If we do have to drop down to a more southerly route...do I do 80 and then drop down to what...snow at elevation could give me a problem this time of year?

Hi Donna - Weather.com has route specific weather forecasting. You simply put the cities/towns you'll be driving through, and it will give you the weather for your drive. You can also put in lay-overs in case you plan on staying somewhere and it will adjust the forecast based on your time lags.

I like to use the NOAA (US Weather Service) 7 day forecast

7day for Moab

It has a map that you can zoom and select a specific location. It then gives an altitude adjusted forecast.

For example for Moab (4000') it predicts 82/55 today and tonight. For La Sal Mtns at 11,500 ft a short distance to the east 51/42.
