Seriously, dude. Please don't ask me how I know that endless driving with small children is a recipe for semi-disaster and exhaustion. If I could only re-live those days a different way, I would.
If I had ten days with four small kids and a nice big RV and hot weather and I lived in Southern Calif, I know exactly what I would do -- head for the high country of the Eastern Sierra. The campgrounds are at 9000 feet! Much cooler than almost anywhere else. Streams. Lakes. Wildflowers. Kid-friendly activities. Fishing. Campfires. World-class scenery. All within a long day's drive of OC.
Heck, you could even try some short-term boondocking north of Mammoth, if you want an adventure! You can't get too ambitious with a big motorhome, but there are places available, even with a big rig.
Let us know if you'd like some suggestions without so much driving! Or, if you still want to go all the way to Canada and back in 10 days (a four day drive EACH WAY), do what a friend of mine did -- stock up on liquid Benadryl. That'll keep the kids quiet and happy -- you can play the same video over and over, and they won't notice. ;)
