Our BC - Alberta Trip Plan what do you think?

Cross at Sumas thru Hope to Cache Creek. Then to Kamloops. Take 5 and 16 to Jasper. From there lcefields Parkway to Banff. Back to Lake Louise make a left on Hwy1 to Monte where we will take 97 down to US and take Washington 20 to I5.

I figure 6 to 8 weeks. What do ya think?

Leaving from Birch Bay tomorrow. Can change plan at any point.
  • When in Lake Louise, don't miss the short drive over Kicking Horse Pass to the Spiral Tunnels on the Canadian Pacific Railway and Emerald Lake/Takakkaw Falls in Yoho National Park. Well worth an extra day in the Lake Louise campground (despite the train noise) to see those sights.
  • Gary thanks for the tips. We have Alaska planed for next year. Guess we will take it slow this year. Profdant love to hike but this old body says no.
  • Rollnhome, if you like hiking, let us know -- there are many weeks' worth of great hikes along that route.
  • You have a lot of time in your schedule..and I do mean a lot. If you like the country/cowboy/ranch life maybe consider going up the Fraser Canyon to Cache Creek, carry on to Williams Lake and turn west on 20, to Bella Cooola. Great drive and lots of cattle, horses, fishing and repeat as required.

Another drive to look at, instead of heading east at Sumas, find your way west, over the Second Narrows Bridge in Vancouver, onwards to the Horseshoe Bay ferry and carry on up to Whistler..and beyond to Pemberton and hang a right, up and over the Duffie Lake road to Lilloet and on to the highway just north of cache Creek.

The two routes I have mentioned are each worth consideration, offer fabulous scenery and you could easily take 5 days each one.

Also, take a look at the Kootenays area. That's an easy couple of weeks if you fish and do the Festivals and so on.

Many folks, with upwards of 8 weeks will get to Alaska and back home...to Florida.

Had to correct the road name...Duffie Lake.
