Leaving Philly (actually Sewell, NJ.) on Tuesday 10/4 or Wednesday 10/5 for Columbus, OH. Any route suggestions or tips navigating would be helpful. I know nothing about the area between Philly and Wheeling.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks to all who replied. It's been a long time since I've been out that way.

Take 470 around wheeling. The only part I travel regularly is wheeling to Columbus. It's easy going right now. Very little construction. Traffic around Columbus can be a little tough around rush hour but otherwise shouldn't be any problems.

Turnpike to I70. Straight shot. Lots of up and down. Pleasant drive. If you really wanted to avoid the tolls you could use the Turnpike to I81 south to I70 west to I68 west to I79 north back to I70 and on to Columbus. Personally, I'd pay the tolls.

These are the only logical options. You can go on the Pennsylvania Turnpike website and calculate your tolls from the NJ/PA line to the New Stanton Exit. Then decide if it's worth driving the additional 45 or so mies by taking the southern route.

Next time I go to Columbus I'm taking the southern route. I'm just tired of the PA Turnpike. Either way is an easy drive.
