Portable DISH in Canada

Can I use my dish tailgater in Canada and will it work? Heading to southern Alberta and British Columbia.

If you get a VPN app you can stream from Canada assuming that the CBC doesn't know the particular VPN.

Yup, seems you can't stream anything from CBC if you are using a US IP. We tried streaming some of the Canada Rugby Sevens on CBC a few weeks ago from So Cal and couldn't.

Actually it's not a legal issue (at least here in Canada), it's an issue with the American and Canadian networks concerned about rebroadcasting their programs in other countries (and missing ad revenue). I checked with our CRTC (the Canadian equivalent of the American broadcast regulator) and they stated that they have no issues with us receiving Canadian programs elsewhere.

The CRTC doesn't give a flip what happens outside their jurisdiction. They only get involved if you try to use a foreign market device to access foreign broadcasts, while in Canada. The companies on both sides of the border know that this happens, but it's not in their interests to pursue the few cases that occur every year,for a short time.

Yup. We use dish 12 months/yr with 6 months in Canada. I will say that the further north you go, the worse the reception. Works pretty good in Calgary but not so great in Edmonton for example.
PS. Luckyd is correct....you will not get locals.
