Portland to Olympic NP (stop by Mt Rainier along the route)

Leaving from Portland tomorrow to travel to Port Angeles, WA. Would like to stop at Mt. Ranier NP along the way.

Google taking me:
I-5 to 12east - to 7north (through Ranier and up to Tacoma) - 16north (out of Tacoma) - to 3north - to 104 - to 101 (ending up in Port Angeles).

Concerned about the Mt Ranier area - and the path around Seattle (islands, traffic, etc). Anyone know if these are ok to travel with 35ft MH with Jeep in tow? Other better routes to accomplish this?

Also - any issue taking MH and Toad to Mt Ranier visitors center?

Thanks in advance for any Help!

Tacoma is a Zoo, there has been major construction for the last 6 or 7 years and it looks like for the next 6 or 7 years or more :(

It's like a nightmare that will never end Ugh !

Coming north at 14:00 it required 30 minutes from Fort Lewis to Fife. but it moves all but slowly.

That's actually a pretty good route, should be no problems with the coach & towed.

There will be heavy traffic in Tacoma.
  • We are going to see Mt St. Helens but not stop and do much - visitor center will not be open as we are leaving early.

Doing Rainier as a side trip is 2hrs each way, which we would likely miss if thats the best option.

you'll miss Mt St,Helens that way. do the two as two side trips off I-5.
After, go 101 out of Olympia

OR... Highway 12 to Packwood, then 123 enter the park there and go to Paradise, and out Via Longmire, and Elbe and take the Narrows bridge (16) to Bremerton and up to the Hood Chanel bridge and Port Townsend.
Sure enough be a full day.
