  • sorry I forgot they changed the forum rules. the main thread is :
Crossed at Nogales this year, easy process at KM 25 for immigration and TIP for the pickup. Highway South to Hermasillo was in good shape, lots of construction from there to Guaymas. San Carlos is our normal first nite stop.

The highway suffered the usual wear and tear this wet season, watch for the broken pavement and potholes as usual. Nice new pavement between Obregon and Navajoa, concrete with a shoulder. By Navajoa the pavement was bad again, and continued that way to the Sinaloa border. As is often the case, as you cross a State border the pavement is markedly better for a while, I guess to impress visitors. However, before San Miguel we were back to the usual rough road.

Near Culiacan there is a lot of storm damage along the roadway, repairs are in progress, no major delays. Rough road in places on into Mazatlan. Ran across a couple of Federales running a radar trap just to the North of Maz, they dropped the gun as an obvious Gringo vehicle approached (me) and where not interested in harassing a tourist, hope your luck is similar. After the beach turnoff there was a detour before Maz, but I saw no new bypass around the town. That would be a godsend but I think someone was dreaming when same was reported here earlier this month.

Final note: Banamex ATM at Maz worked fine for a gringo card. Wandered around El Rosario for a while in the dark before we found Kip's favorite stop at Hotel Yauco on the Libre highway in town. Safe travels, see ya soon. Rojo
