- dave54NomadNix on 36.
Narrow, no shoulder, very curvy.
36 from Red Bluff to Susanville is good for towing. - Roy_LynneExplorerWe are going that route next winter but because it's going to be winter and because we are going a bit south, we have decided to take Hwy 20 across. It would probably be way out of your way though.
- coolbreeze01ExplorerAt the moment, 36 is closed due to fire.
299 and 44 are good drives on Sundays, no road work. Suggest you check the link before heading out.
http://www.dot.ca.gov/cgi-bin/roads.cgi - IslandmanExplorerDefinitely take CA 299 over to Willow Creek and then on to Redding, at Redding you can turn towards Susanville. CA 36 is a poor road for travel east of Mad River, do not take it with an RV in tow or a motorhome!
