- tatestExplorer IIMy last time coming across was in April. No construction then, except maybe one place down to a single lane for some bridge work, in Indiana. But that was ahead of the construction season, won't know what it looks like this summer until I go back through it again.
- jeb5ExplorerWe know this route very well. You will enjoy the trip pulling or driving your RV. The towns are about 30 miles apart in Western Indiana and Illinois. The farmland around Watseka is some of the finest in America. Try eating at the truck stop in Gilman. NE corner opposite Motel 8. GREAT FOOD. I have not seen any construction this spring. Most of the construction is a new bridge. Just go North or South a few miles and go around.
Happy Trails!!! - hellbird503ExplorerThanks for your help. Will give it a try, only one bridge that is one lane according to Indiana website.
- concord32Explorernot in a RV but done it in a truck. On the west side it is two lanes through allot of little towns but moves well. On the east end it has been updated to 4 lanes no stops either. Watch for local PD's though like to stop people not catching the speed changes in time. Hope this helps.
- tatestExplorer IIYes. Fort Wayne to I-57 and I-55 in Illinois. Once all the way to Quincy, then through Missouri to Mexico.
No problem, if no sections of the road are detoured. Fort Wayne to Logansport is four-lane divided, bypassing most towns, and so far not much build-up on the bypasses. West of Logansport is two-lane with limited passing opportunities, slow traffic in small towns, and lots of truck traffic when grain is being moved around between fields, elevators and ethanol plants.
If they've closed a section of two-lane for reconstruction, or rebuilding a bridge (a lot of that lately) it can be a problem. In the past two years I've encountered long detours twice between Logansport and Watseka. The detours are not much fun because there aren't many roads that can handle detoured truck traffic, and you may go 30 miles to get around a two to five mile closed section. Last summer my detour got detoured. So check Indiana and Illinois for planned closures, before choosing a route.
Assuming you mean US-24, not Indiana 24.
