Hello, We will be going thru St. Louis on our way to Springfield, Illinois. Are there any recommendations about what route to use going thru St. Louis? (44, 55, looping around)? Thanks for any sugges...

Coming from I-44 I would take I-270 south then connect to I-255 into IL. It's about 5 miles between I-44 and I-255. Take I-255 to I-55. You avoid all of the St Louis metro area with that bypass. I-255 can be almost empty at times.
After exiting I-255 onto I-55 as soon as possible get into at least the 2nd lane on I-55. Within a mile of getting onto I-55 the far right lane is an exit only lane.
