- garyhauptExplorerThe problem with the west coast is when it rains..or even when it's just not nice, that moisture just gets everywhere and you can feel so clammy and unhappy. If a person does choose the Island or Vancouver, make sure you have bought a dehumidifier and a form of electric heater.
I'd also contact Johna and Angela and get the scoop on Spain. They have the info on a bunch of stuff like costs of health care..info that makes another place worth considering.
Gary Haupt - FULLTIMEWANABEExplorerOsoyoos BC or the island would be our choices to hold up for 3 months of the year at least if remaining in Canada during the winter. Otherwise put RV in storage and rent SnB set up.
- relaxinExploreryou could rent a few thousand square feet in a corner of any one of a few thousand abondoned factory buildings in Ontario do some creative mural painting on a wall,,, seascape, get a few fake palm trees,,, no snow inside, easy to heat your unit with no wind, indoor parking for your car, go for a jog nice and dry every day, set up an above ground pool for swimming.
HEY there we go, "new for winter camping in Ontario" - JaxDadExplorer III

With dollar tanking so bad what are our options for staying home. We have a Class C so we can go anywhere. We want the warmest, least amount of snow possible. Not asking for much are we...lol
Considering your profile is blank, you don't say where you live, or even what kind of RV you have it's hard to give you any ideas, let alone good ideas.
I get great sites in a fantastic park in south central FL for $450/mo. plus electricity & cable/phone/internet at $50/month. I think the cost of gas to & from Vancouver Island would be more than I spend going to Florida. - mayo30ExplorerOsoyoos has hotel etc. bookings up to 3 years.Don't know about RV parks.Stayed there one winter and never saw the sun for weeks, plus had the most snow in 37 years. There some very nice but very expensive places left, over $100.00 a day,but not many. The exchange rate with the American dollar and the horrors of medical health insurance will keep many Canadians home this winter. We will go to Vancouver Island, but have in the past lived through many bad days of rain and yes some terrible snow storms over the years. But it all beats winters here in good old Saskatchewan.Too cold too long for these old bones.
- n7bsnExplorerYuppers, southern Vancouver Island, the lower main-land, etc.
But one of the reasons housing prices are high in that region is all the Canadians who retire and want to live someplace 1) with health care and 2) little or no snow.
All that being said, rarely, like once every 20 or so years the region gets hit with up to a meter of heavy wet snow. Then it just sux and staying with the rig is your best option... Last time it did that here I had to go sweep snow off mine and my neighbors rigs, before the roofs failed and collapsed. Literally hundreds of roofs failed that storm. Several boat docks, with boat-houses sank. It was just plan ugly. - John___AngelaExplorerIf this (or when this happens to us) we'll head for Vancouver.
You could rent a condo for three months in Southern Spain. Warm. Not hot in the winter. Awesome part of the country. Sevilla, Malaga. Depends on your budget. Either way. Enjoy your winter and stay warm. - pianotunaNomad IIIOsoyoos B.C.
Some low end parks are $400 per month. Fancy ones with pools are about double that. - Jebby14Explorerthe peso is still cheap to the CAD..... just saying.
staying here southwest bc will be warmest. or you can gamble and head for southwestern Ontario (ie my home town of Windsor) usually colder than vancover but snowfall is typically not that high although the last few years have been. - romoreExplorer IIBring the umbrella and water walkers. Last winter was unusually dry, we are sure paying for it now though. If El Nino shows up it could be very different this year.
