We are traveling to Charleston from Nashville. We were going to leave at 6 pm and stop to sleep overnight. I’ve been doing some reading on the flying j rv stops and cracker barrell Etc. Most are saying no slides at stops. I need to put the slide out to get to a bed. Also they are saying Cracker Barrel’s are only 40’ long. I am 58’ long. What are saying me options. I want to pull in at 10 or so and leave at 6. I don’t want to be far from the expressway

RV spots at Cracker barrel are a joke..... they are way to short for all but the smallest RVs Flying J RV spot are few and you will take up two spots with an extended slide.. Stop at a Walmart.

As the owner of a CG, PLEASE go elsewhere if coming in that late. There is a Costco at exit 374 before you get to Knoxville. Not many choices after Newport until you get almost to Asheville.

I didn’t want to travel far off the interstate. I don’t think you can stay overnight at tn, N.C. or sc rest stops.

Ivylog.... Thank you for that confirmation. I don’t want to navigate campgrounds at 10 pm and I didn’t think the campgrounds would want it either.

There are potentially two things wrong with that suggestion.
Some rest areas are posted "NO overnight parking".
And the ones where that is not a problem, the "big rig" spaces are filled up with truck drivers who don't have a lot of other options and who will not be happy if they need to stop and RVs are taking up some of their spots. (I am not saying that is right or wrong but that's the way it IS.)

If you can't afford $40 to overnight at an RV park, maybe you can't afford the trip at all.

Maybe you could stay at home for the night and leave early in the morning and travel during daylight hours. Stop at a campground while it's light out and start again the next day. Unless of course you are bound by time constraints.
I don't like to travel at night and try to find a place to park that late.

Thank you. We are going 9.5 hrs away. We wanted to get 3 or 4 hours inwhile the babies slept and then finish it off the next day. We have done this drive straight through and with babies it is really hard.

I parked at the Brunswick, GA Cracker Barrel many times. Sometimes I tow a car. I never park in an Bus/RV spot. I always go in AFTER the dinner rush is over and many parking spots are available. I park behind the Bus/RV spots across 5 or 6 car spots. Never had a problem. Once we ate dinner upon arriving and mentioned to the manager we were staying the night in their parking lot. The same manager was there in the morning when we ate breakfast. The manager picked up our breakfast check! I like CB much better than the wild and crazy FlyingJ parking. I stopped overnight parking at FJs years ago.
