To those presently living in rio grande valley tx.
Looking for safe, cheap campground recommendations. Im planning on moving to rgv in late spring. (Probably mission, harlingen, mcallen areas open to all suggestions) I have small travel trailer. Solo woman so i want to know its a safe place. Thanks.
A lot of Singles stay at Fun n Sun near Harlingen and Alamo Rec-Veh in Alamo, Texas. Alamo Rec-Veh is 90-95% full for January. - gwalterExplorer IIISeems to be quite a few headed south now. We drove from CO to Nebr for a funeral on Fri. and saw about 15 trailers and class A rigs headed somewhere.
- RVLimeyExplorerOver here in "The Springs at Borrego Golf and RV resort" you can shoot a cannon through the park, and you might hit the odd coyote ambling through. Two days ago the last 30 units left over from the holidays left and none came in yesterday and maybe 3 or 4 today. Hope things are better next month when we move over to Yuma. Probably only 20 % full here right now.
- msparker505ExplorerPawatt, thanks for info. I will check this cg out.

Green Gate Grove, gated with key card entry and night time on site security. Great facilities also. This is a very well kept ownership park. Lots are for rent by owner, Very reasonable off season rates. Negotiate a low off season price. You must be 55 years old or older.
Pet friendly. Pool, Spa & more. - msparker505ExplorerTo those presently living in rio grande valley tx.

Almost full in Outdoor resorts Palm Springs. And a whole whack load of new rigs being driven by the mid 50's crowd. Trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes, and a lot of nice new trucks. Many in the 29 to 33 foot length although a surprising amount of 25 foot trailers this year. Things are a changin.
Funny you mention that. Visiting with others today when one of the guys mentioned that the rigs were smaller this year versus past ones.
Also that mid 50's crowd you're talking about, are they there for the whole winter? or just a vacation.
Yeppir. The 35 to 40 footers are not as prevalent. Hmmmm, re the mid 50's crowd being here for the winter. Not sure talked to a few folks already and one couple are here only for a month and the other for 3 months. Too early to tell. This is a very active area and park, not much of a shuffle board crowd here...mostly because we replaced the shuffle board area with a world class gym a few years back. :) Without a doubt the feel of the park is changing. We are here 3 to 5 months of the year and find it kinda changes over the winter as well. Lots of families on holiday weekends, christmas etc. The tennis and golf crowd love this place and of course some of the full timers live here all year around. It will be interesting to watch the changes over the next few years. Lot sales are about average, prices around the 2006 era but slowly climbing. There are a lot less permanently set up fifth wheels than when we bought in here 9 years ago. Its all good and we love it here. - John_JoeyExplorer
