I just completed this mod today in an effort to save even more water while I boondock. I tested it out today after completing the install but was disappointed that the shutoff doesn't completely shutoff the flow of water. There's still a little stream that flows from the head even in "off" position. I know this is a mechanism to prevent being scalded or blasted with cold water when turning the head back on, but this won't "save" much water. What has been your experience with these and did you have a fix to correct this issue?Also, for those who have one. How do you like it? Do you think it's worth the cost? And do you think you the nozzle saves water?

I just put in a inline shut off valve right at the bottom of the shower handle that will shut off the water completely with great success.

I installed a push button shut off from Home Depot also, but it still puts out a small dribble. Still get the cold blast when turning it back on. Here is a link to one man's solution. I read this some time back and have thought about trying it. Might be kind of pricey. I do like the Oxygenics shower head. Various people have measured the flow rate to be the 1.5 gal/min they claim.

When I researched the situation, I found that many of the separate shut off valves will also leave a dribble. But did find one that indicated that it shuts off completely. Works great and in case a blast of either hot or cold water comes out, I put my free hand over the spray for a second.

Mine came with a shutoff button, just installed it today, so I can't vouch for the efficiency of it, but anything is better than the stock shower head!!!

Anybody have an Oxygenics Shower Head in their RV?

I would take much longer showers without the Oxygenics as the water stream didn't have enough pressure to quickly rinse the soap off. With my Oxygenics both my DW and I can take a Navy style shower (just twisting the knob off, using the small stream that remains to help work up a lather) on one tank of water. Our Aliner only has a 10 gallon fresh tank (and a 6 gallon heater.) With our old shower head we would each use almost 10 gallons per shower. Since we only have a couple 7 gallon aquatainers to catch the waste water, (no grey tank) this was a problem, requiring the non showering person to switch tanks in the middle of the other person's shower.

I'm actually surprised anyone can like the shower head that came with the camper over the oxygenics.

We used ours this weekend. Had 4 showers take and 32 gallon tank was only at a third. Took two more showers and the last one I just let the water run continuously. Got or and finally was at 2/3 full I'm guessing we could easily get 8-9 showers out of it for our 32 gallon gray tank.

We had one, ditched it for a $12 sink sprayer from Lowes, no fumbling for adjustments, much smaller, uses about half the water with more pressure due to the small holes.

That was a nice write up Mike. I have the white one I bought for $25 on Amazon for $25. I dry camp 95% of the time with 60 gals of FW. What I have found that works for me is to close the shut of valve about 1/4 turn reducing the flow. Also I turn the hot water on 10 mins before taking a shower in the summer and 20 mins in colder weather so I don't have to waste water adjusting the temperature. Also when taking a navy shower (USN 68-71} there is no trickle of water coming out because I only use the hot water knob. I think I save 40% over the original head and method. 60 gals lasts 4 days with wife and 2 Gkids.

For those looking for deals on the showerhead keep an eye out on Amazon. Every now and then they drop their price. Sometimes the "kit" price is cheaper than the showerhead only price so don't rule that out either. We bought the showerhead + hose on Amazon for ~$27. The hose is a piece of junk so you won't want it anyway, but you can always chuck it and stick with your existing hose. E-bay sometimes has good deals too.
