- wanderingaimlesExplorerNormal water temps that area should be 65 or so at that time of the year, Similar to New Haven now. Be warned air temps could be in the 40's at night and only mid 60's daytime.
- RICKIMExplorer IIIOctober is probably the best time to go to Assateague IMO.
We're down there every year and usually playing in the water....65* is usually the water temp.
Have fun.
Rick - K-9_HANDLERExplorerMake your reservation as early as u can. Place fills up quick.
- mdcampingExplorerThanks everyone for your replies, Let me see if I can sell the water temps on DW!
Hoping to book the sought after H Loop! :C
Mike - K-9_HANDLERExplorerGood luck. Have never stayed in the state park only the fed side.
- All_I_could_affExplorerThat time of year, I'd be ok with any site in the park. I've made it thru an August 4 night stay on a non electric site and with no generator. Just 300 watts of solar and a 10x10 canopy next to the awning.
I love it there - johnwalkerpa1Explorer

DW loves the beach and most importantly, swimming. So how's the water temps? I was thinking of booking for 2018.
Thanks for your replies

The water temps in October may be warmer than they would be next May or early June...But, the air temps are luck of the draw....add some wind and it could be cold.
We were just there this weekend and water was nice and warm. On Saturday the air was about 68 but with a 30 mph wind...too cold to get wet! - bigfootgreyExplorer
We were there this spring. Fall should be very nice! Would definately return to camp at the bayside.
