- CroweExplorerHaven't been down that way in a while, but is Emerald Isle in your path? If so, I'd recommend Holiday Trav-L-Park. Sites are tight but beach is beautiful and there's stuff to do in the area.

Very expensive. 90+ per night and EVERYTHING is extra. Cable, extra people, internet...even deposit for bathhouse key. We live 90 minutes from there but have only been there once. - dano73ExplorerWow 90 a night!!! That's florida keys price!! Im in Ocracoke now 51 a night includes cable and wifi not luxurious but good people. Was just in hatteras cg 23 a nite, beautiful place, got hot this past week tho, since chilled down after the rain, nice and drying out

Looking for a cg heading south from ocracoke island towards Wilmington. From what I can see Cape Lookout is tent only, so I guess I will by pass that. Any suggestions?
OK IT's SMALL, VERY SMALL. But nice, and quiet. Surf City Family CG on Topsail Island NC. Has full hookups, and a wonderful beach. But that's all. No pool, or anything like that. Just a place to setup on the beach.

Cape Lookout NS doesn't have any developed campgrounds and is accessible only by boat or private vehicle ferry. It does offer the greatest beach camping on the east coast in my opinion, - NCWriterExplorer

Agree, we go there every year for our one night shakedown trial before a long trip, but be aware that the dump station has been out of service for many months. - dano73ExplorerThanks guys. Im going to try one of those options when we leave here. Cape Lookout does look nice for tenting, but on eastern Long Island NY we are allowed to pull our trailers on the sand, but no tenting. They stopped that probably 20 years ago, and then required self contained only and 4 wheel drive, so we're real lucky to still have that.
- mockybirdExplorerI believe it is hard to get onto Cape Lookout without being ferried over.
So that hurts a big camper. There must be some small road to get there because I have seen a pickup truck with camper box on it before but it was not out on the beach sand side. - huachucaExplorerNo roads Gary but Morris Marina in Atlantic runs a ferry capable of carrying four or five vehicles to Portsmouth Island and there are a couple of operators in the area offering a similar service to South Core.
Truck campers are fairly common on Cape Lookout but they get back ond forth on the ferries.
From our trip this past March - mockybirdExplorerReally cool. I have never seen a vehicle on the actual beach. I always wanted to pitch a tent for an over night stay, but always backed out. We usually take the small ferries from Harkers Island over for day trips. really like this area. Thanks for the info on vehicles.
