If you're looking for something in between the two, I've stayed at the Buffalo, WY KOA on Business 90. If I remember correctly, Buffalo is the home of the famous Jackalope, and the KOA had a stuffed one in the office. Its a big Jackrabbit with antelope horns. They only roam at night and usually just outside bars. Very hard to catch. :)
Also at the Hardin, MT. KOA, a mile north of the 495 exit on I-90. Nice couple running the place and far enough off of I-90 to be quiet.
Also, there's a KOA about 50 feet from the entrance to Devil's Tower. Stop for some pictures as you get closer from Sundance. When you actually get to Devil's Tower, you're too close. Right at the entrance, there's a prairie dog village. Cute little devils.
