Blue Cross travel insurance rate hikes

Both DW and I are healthy and in the same age bracket at last year. We went to renew our insurance with Blue cross and were shocked to discover that they had raised the rate by over 60% from last year to this year. They said they lowered the rates on shorter trips and raised on longer trips.

This year we're with Medipac.

It also depends upon your age. I expect my travel insurance to rise after next July when I hit 66, my agent has already given me a heads up. We're home now in Canada for the holidays but my rates for our January thru March stint in the US has stayed the same as this past year.

My wife and I are insured with The Co-operators.

    That's true ... and we didn't.

Health insurance premium going up and you are shocked?
    60%? Yes, that shocks me.

  • You should mention you are a Canadian buying insurance to use in the US.

  • If Medipac is underwritten by Manulife you might not have any coverage when the time comes.
