Branson

We are flying to Branson for 10 days at the end of April. Not a camping trip; staying in a condo.

Aside from all the shows, etc. we are seeking info on scenic drives to day trips within a few hours of Branson. Scenery, day hikes, photos, and tranquillity would be our objective here.

We have never been to the Ozarks.

Top of the Rock. about 8 mi south of Branson at hwy 86. 10 dollars to get in but you get to apply the $10 to a meal or any thing else in the complex. We spent 4 hrs here and enjoyed it very much.Beautiful area. Our favorite show in Branson other than Sight and Sound is Six.

Things to do: Dogwood Canyon, "Top of the Rock" @ sunset,

Places to eat: Keeter Center @ College of the Ozarks, Bradford Inn (lunch)

Shows: Hughes Brothers, Million Dollar Quartet

One hour north of Branson in Springfield MO is Fantastic Caverns. Ride through in a jeep. There are many other things to see in Springfield MO. Check Trip Advisor.

Route 65 & 7 south is very scenic. About an hour to Jasper in the Buffalo River area. Just a little further is the Arkansas Grand Canyon. Google it. Scenic.
Cassville, MO is the location of Roaring River SP a trout park. It is about an hour West of Branson.
The College of the Ozarks near Branson is supposed to be interesting.
Table Rock SP is near Branson. There is a nice blacktop walking path along the lake from the marina to the Dam.

Dogwood Canyon is the place to see in Branson. It's a touristy town, should not be hard to find a vast variety of other attractions and traps. 🙂

Nice tour of the countryside.

Also, don't miss the Five and Dime downtown.

Dogwood Canyon X2. Big Cedar Lodge is also worth a stop with a good meal, although not cheap.

Go to the Branson Lakeside RV Park and check out Scotty's Trout Dock LINK for a pontoon boat rental on Lake Tandycomo. Very scenic and relaxing.

Drive 160 east from downtown Branson to Hwy. 125 south. You take a free ferry across the lake then take Hwy. 14 west back to 65. Probably a half day trip but scenic.

If you need a longer trip drive down to Jasper. The Ozark Cafe downtown is a very good place to stop. South of Jasper on Hwy 7 just a few miles is a viewing tower overlooking the Buffalo River Valley.

West of Jasper is a herd of Elk that can be viewed from the road most evenings.

Table Rock Lake Dam is close, a must see. Eureka Springs Arkansas is also a good tourist town about an hour and a half away. Lots of nice driving areas
close in.

Dogwood Canyon Nature Park is very nice and scenic, and they rent old fashioned single speed bikes. For a great meal, you also have to find Lamberts so you can have a hot roll thrown at you from across the dining room.
