Buses from Key West to Bahia Honda

Someone told me that there are buses that run from Key West up to and past Bahia Honda state campground in the Florida Keys.

Anyone here know anything about this bus route? Thank you in advance.

I remember you and site 26. I go over to Bahia Honda about every morning at around 8:30. If you see a orange Corvette--it's me.

There are some stairs behind your site that go up to US 1, but you would have to cross the road. I don't know where the south bound bus stop is?

Daughter and Fiance parked at the Big Pine Walgreens and took the bus to Key West and back on New Years Eve--worked real slick for them.

I googled the same thing this afternoon, and found out there is. It runs about every two hours and only cost $4 for a full day pass.
We are going there Thursday and will try it out. Have a good time there.

  • Yep there is, thanks for the replies and websites. That will work out great considering I always end up paying at least 10 bucks for a parking spot.

The City of Key West Department of Transportation provides public transit services throughout Key West, Stock Island, and up to Marathon, FL. We have 6 routes, the earliest of which begin operation at 5:30 am and run as late as 12:00 midnight. Our fleet consists of 17 handicap accessible buses which accommodate 24 or 32 passengers.
  • It was a few years back but there was one from Marathon to Key West.

Worked fairly well but it wasn't an every 5 min kind of thing.
  • Yes there are busses that run from Homestead to Key West and Back. all day.
We winter in Key Largo, and see them as we travel back and forth through the Keys. I don't know there schedule, but I'll bet if you call the ranger station at Bahia Honda SP, they could tell you.

I am not sure if they run as often in the summer months as they do in the winter snow bird season.
