Cajun Country - chank-a-chank
Continuing the Big Adventure headed west now. We spent the week in Poche's RV Fish 'n Camp in Breaux Bridge LA, self proclaimed crawfish capital of the world. And they're not kidding. Cajun seafood restaurants everywhere.
The park itself was an interesting departure from the luxury RV resorts we've been staying at (chuckle). It's exactly what the name implies. There are 100 or so concrete pads with full hookup 50 amps situated around a man-made fishing pond, with several other ponds on the property. Ponds are stocked with catfish and bass.
Park WiFi was adequate but slow on the weekends when the place filled up. Weekenders pull in and the first thing they do is start cooking good smelling stuff.
No cable but was able to pick up major networks OTA from Lafayette. Enterprise in Breaux Bridge picks up at the parks, so we had a car to explore and stock up.
Most shopping will be done in Lafayette. Th DW said the Winn-Dixie in Breaux Bridge wasn't so good. Liquor stores etc in Lafayette as well as doctors and pharmacies, eateries and malls.
But do yourself a favor and skip the Olive Garden and find a local to have some crawfish etoufee or fried oysters and an Abita beer. Also, close to the RV park is Poche's Market which serves local fare for lunch specials and has a freezer stocked with gumbo, etoufee and boudin (pronounced boo-dan) a local sausage.
