campgrounds and attractions near biloxi and New Orleans

We will be staying in these two locations near the end of November. We are just an old couple newly retired who are on their first snowbird trip. Thanks,
  • I second bgum's recommendations: Hollywood Casino RV Park in Bay St. Louis and the French Quarter RV Park in New Orleans. French Quarter is on the higher end of the daily fee scale. It will be especially expensive on football weekends if the Saints are playing a home game.
  • I would Highly recommend BELLINGGRATH GARDENS just outside of Mobile Alabama.

It is a beautiful place and they also have an area you can leave your pet if needed while you tour the gardens.
  • Search for each location in this Forum in the RV parks section and read on.
  • Look at rvparkreviews. com by state and city to see campgrounds in the area and reviews. There is usually a link to the campgrounds website. You may also want to check out Pass Christian, Long Beach, Gulfport, Biloxi and Waveland. These are all within 15-20 miles of each other and these cities are also within 1-2 hrs of Mobile AL, New Orleans and maybe 2-3 hrs from Pensacola Beach FL.
  • The USS Alabama would be a good day trip. Also enjoyed Ft. Morgan. Both are just down the road from Biloxi at Mobile Bay.
  • For the last few years I’ve been spending a couple months each winter at Buccaneer State Park in Waveland, MS. That’s about in the middle between your two points. They have FHU sites with monthly rates during the winter. The Silver Slipper Casino is just down the beach with 3 restaurants including a great buffet.

The whole area was pretty much flattened by Katrina so everything is new since then.
  • Well in Biloxi and Gulfport you have several casinos with good places to eat. In Bay St Louis there is the Hollywood casino with it's RV park. Nice place to stay. Then New Orleans offers the French Quarter. The D Day museum is a good place to visit. Good food in many places. If you have time along the coast from Pensacola to Gulf Shores is a nice ride with great seafood. If you have time Cajun country in and around Lafayette is interesting and you will not find better food.
