Would it be possible or even practicable to get, hint to moderator, sub-sections to RV Parks, National Parks, State Campgrounds & More or even their own categories under Locations, a category for Campgrounds and one for RV sites. There seems to be some disparity or even animosity between the two groups at times. While one group prefers the lack of trees, the other relishes them. Maybe some of the bickering and waste of band width (figure of speech) would cease. Although I would still find both categories interesting, I would be able to direct my particular interests to the desired section. Just a thought. But in the mean time keep up the great work with the site!

There doesn't seem to be a clear distinction between the two - for some members here.I have seen trailer parks called campgrounds.

there isn't all that much bickering and most of it is just idle arguing for the sake of arguing. :) most of it is based on what defines camping vs rving vs traveling.... a lot of us tend to call all of it camping.

DW just says let's go camping or let's go somewhere in the RV next weekend. That's how we look at it. For us it's a getaway to some relaxation and it doesn't matter where all that much.:B

I live in a camper and like to go camping in campgrounds. :) RV park, CG, whatever. If it has a spot to park, a fire ring and a picnic table, I am good to go

I read this section of the forum, and sometimes I may have something to add, but when I'm looking for a place to overnight or stay for a week, I look at RV Park Reviews. Most, but not all, are reviews of FHU parks, and that's what I'm looking for. And its more specific about what hookups are available. Sometimes, folks disagree on the rating, but its still information.
The CG/RV park is where I sleep at night. I'm gone all day if staying for awhile, or gone the next day if I'm still traveling. I don't use the swing set because I don't fit, and I don't use the pool because I'm afraid that Capt. Ahab would suddenly show up with a harpoon in his hand. :)

I just don't see the need, there are Tent sites at a Campground, there are RV sites at a Campground.
The only difference I see is perception, some don't consider it camping, unless you're in the middle of no-where, on a dirt road that most folk can't use, or even find, some don't consider it RV'ing, unless you have concrete pads, FHU's, including cable, WIFI, & wet bar at the pool. Me, I call it camping, where ever I do it.

Our needs changed over time. When the kids were young and we were in a PU, we wanted space and privacy. As we got older and camped in TTs, the need for provacy waned. Although we still do not want to be on a site that literally has our awning extended out to the back side of the RV in the next site over.

Sometimes we look to boondock - other times we want our TT to be a vacation home with all the amenenities.

I would not be against breaking it into two categories - public vs. private, but even those distinctions point out inconsistencies depending on where in the country you are. For instance, here in NJ the state CGs do not have any utility hookups, whereas other states have varying degree of utility hookup availability.

Double ditto. I see folks are beginning to do better at that since it's been brought to everyone's attention.

Whenever a post appears praising a particular park in a bit of a sales pitch tone, you'll see folks react against it, especially if it's over the top like it's THE best campground.

Personally I think leaving the forum as it is invites others to have all their options available in one category. Adding states in the post title helps tremendously too. No need for anyone to grab up their toys and form a separate forum as we're all adults here who can accept differences in our preferences - I hope.

It doesn't take very long to read about a place that I'm not interested in, and there's often additional information about the area that I am interested in. If I could recover all the time I've wasted in my life, I'd live to be 200, and then I wouldn't know anybody. :)
