Camping black hills

Thinking of going out there in a couple of weeks. Will be in a motorhome pulling a trailer. Are there any campgrounds out there with pull through sites? Do the have electric hook ups at all? Thanks in advance for your help.
  • We had a great stay at Beaver Lake camp ground about 4miles west of Custer. Full hookups, pull throughs and great owners.
  • Lots of CGs have electric sites, many have FHUs. Whether they'd have sites long enough for your full rig depends on the CG. You might start with rvparkreviews - the CGs are listed under each town, so you'd be looking for Custer, Hill City, and a few others. Each CG's review has a link to the CG's own website, if they have one (most do) and you could get a better idea from that. Good luck.
  • We really liked Horse Thief Campground located just outside Hill City. they have FHU and pull throughs. the Hill City area is centrally located for checking out all of the BH`s.
  • Custer State Park is one of our favorites in entire US. If at all possible try to stay there. The park is huge, the sites are not crammed in like many commercial parks. They have reasonably priced sites, maybe you could get a site for the trailer and the RV. I think most are back in but you have plenty of room. There is wildlife galore throughout the park and also have very nice restuarants reasonably priced in the park, plus lots to do including tours. Stay away from the Deadwood KOA, nice location in Deadwood but you are really crammed in. We paid for 3 days and left after one night and forfeited any refund.
  • Stayed at Rafter J Ranch in Hill City.We really liked that campground, lots of room ,full hookups and many sites to choose from you will not be disappointed

THIS!!! Custer is amazing. The entire region is incredible. I was born in Rapid City and although my dad was military and we moved away, we returned almost annually well into my teens. It's been many years since I've been back but I am always planning that "one big trip" with my kids to where I vacationed when I was their age. Unfortunately, I'm running out of time much faster than I ever imagined, but Custer will definitely be on the agenda.

+1 on Rafter J Bar. When I was there last summer they had some huge rigs, big motor homes pulling trailers and they fit in quite nicely. 5 different locations within the resort to choose from.
