Capital KOA in Millersville MD outside of DC too

Well, there are only a few full service campgrounds in the DC area and people always ask where to stay. I like the country parks in Fairfax county but many stay at Cherry Hill in MD but this place in Millersville MD is another alternative. They run a shuttle every day to DC for I think 10 dollars. It will drop you off and pick you up at the end of the day. Now you are not far from DC but you are also close to Baltimore and the aquarium and the inner harbor and you are close to Annapolis with the Bay and the Naval Academy too. I think this is the most centrally located place to stay if you want to do the DC, Baltimore Annapolis swing. If you are just DC then Cherry Hill or my favorite Bull Run campground. IT is close to the Air and Space annex and the VA side of things, like Arlington National as well.

Well here are a couple shots from last night at the campground so you can see what it looks like. While the sights are standard in a row there seems to be pretty good space between most of them and they have some in the woods too but not what I would want for a big rig.

Between the power pole light and his campfire we can see pretty well.

Yep that's a deal killer for us too. We call those cgs "sardine campgrounds".

You are right. Cherry Hill is not the only game in town for the DC area. There are others as convenient & at alot less.

We have done Fairfax County Park, Reston. LP Cosca Regional Park, Clinton near Andrews. Bull Run Regional Park, Manasses. All of them very pleasant CGs not near a major highway & not carpark style camping.

I have seen lots of big dogs here. I have talked to the managers and will try to track them down today and ask about breed restrictions. I have my dogs here and have seen large ones like the ones next to us but they look like labs. There is a large old english sheep dog here too.

The breed restrictions are not totally bad as they encourage me to spend my camping dollars somewhere else.

Quite a few cgs have breed restrictions now thanks to the insurance companies. Plenty of discussion about it on the pet threads here. We've taken our Irish Terriers to Capitol KOA and have no problem. We've seen plenty of Corgis, standard poodles, etc; even cats there. I'll have to check but I'm wondering if MD has breed restrictions in public areas?

Great shots of the rig,

Only issue with Millersville KOA is the fact that it closes for the Winter.

You are right it is a great central location to the Baltimore - Washington - Annapolis area.

Yes it closes on Nov 23rd I think. It is a good location that is central in the area and is cheaper then Cherry Hill too.
