Cedar Point, NC campground closed for renovation by NFS

Just read in today's local paper that the most popular campground in Croatan National Forest (close to Emerald Isle, NC on the mainland) will be closed - estimated five months.

Upgrading to 50 amp, relocating the dump station, renovating campsites, renovating toilet/shower building.

Glad to know they are upgrading - the dump station was closed when we were there in the spring. It's just a few miles from our house, but we often stay there for a quick getaway and shakedown cruise before a big trip.

Thanks for the update. We often visit Cedar Point in the cooler months and would likely have wasted a trip without this info.

Very glad the info proved useful.

We enjoy the Tideland hiking trails, and those will be closed also. Total reno cost will be about $700,000, from the general NFS appropriations.
  • Good to know. Am also glad they're upgrading instead of closing it down.
