COE parks in Mississippi along I55

We have stopped for an overnight stay at Oak Creek COE park at the Sadis exit and it is just fine but we would like to go a little further south so it would not be as far to our next stop near Hattiesburg. Any COE parks maybe 50 miles or so south of Sardis and not too far off I55. Thanks so much for any help.
  • There are only COE parks along I-55 at the four lakes in northern MS. Grenada Lake is the farthest south. You can check the campground status on recreation.gov.

The only other COE campgrounds are along the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in the north eastern part of the state and one near Meridian.

There is a county park with reasonable rates on the Ross Barnett Reservior in Jackson. Almost no Federal campgrounds south of Jackson / I-20.

The Pearl River Authority does have some campgrounds, but I don’t know their status.
  • Or go to'
    www.corpslakes.us
It will take you to a site offering a state by state listing of COE facilities.
  • Check uscampgrounds.info. Put in a town near where you want to stop. You will get a map centered on that town with all publicly owned campgrounds shown. You can zoom in or out or move the map in any direction. There is a legend that tells what type of campground it is, and links to the campground website for many of them. COE maps are listed.
