Crystal Beach TX RV parks

I am planning a week long fishing trip to the Crystal Beach area and I would welcome any comments positive or negative regarding RV parks in the area.
  • The Beach in Galveston is nothing like Florida and east coast beaches the water is always a dirty brown.

If you want nicer beaches in Texas go south to Padre Island. But if you are a beach person Bolivar and Galveston is worth a trip.

If you are going to fish then by all means fish ROLLOVER PASS!

There are lots of things in Galveston do a google search for THE STRAND.

The Bishops Palace is worth taking a tour thru also. They also have a good Mardi Gras celebration. Not as good as New Orleans but nice. If you are into those.

Bolivar Peninsula RV is what I would recommend also.
  • We were at the Bolivar Peninsula RV park last spring. Nice park. Typical of the other parks in the area in layout and site set up. The woman in the office was pleasant and helpful. I see you are from TX so you are familiar with the bugs you may encounter such as ants. They were abundant so precautions for an ant barrier is in my opinion essential. I think I brought home a whole colony with me and battled them for a couple months afterward. While we did not do any fishing we did enjoy the area and Galveston. I thought the beach and water were a little dirty with all the shipping activity there. As mentioned they are a Passport America park too so if you are a member you get a bit of a break on the fee.

The Sand Dollar used to be okaY. BUT THEN a new person bought it. He has a friend living in a rig the first site on the left as you enter. The friend has a dog that frickin yaps from the minute the owner leaves till he returns. Some times hours if he went to the bar across the street. Owner hears it does nothing

  • We stayed at the Bolivar Peninsula RV Park last February and had a good experience. The lady in the office was friendly and helpful with information about visiting Galveston. (It's a 1/2 price Passport America park too.)
