- CrodadExplorerDon't overlook Blackwater River SP. Great for tubing, Kayaking, canoing and Wake boarding. Even if you don't do those, just sit on a sandbar and relax.
- beachcomber_1ExplorerEvery park will be filling up fast in October, reservations!!!!!
- padredwNomadAnd if you are staying in Fort Pickens, you can watch the Blue Angels practicing right from the campground. The used to practice ever Tuesday, but that may have changed.
- Jim_ShoeExplorerIf you visit the National Aviation Museum (highly recommended) and happen to be there at the right time, there are stadium seats behind the museum where you can watch the Blue Angels practice their show if they're in town. And the museum itself is free. If you have kids, there are several things that they will enjoy as well. If I remember correctly, you do have to pay to park, but it isn't expensive.
I was stationed in Pensacola for two years and never visited. I guess it was so close that I could go anytime. I also found that the Enlisted Men's Club served cold beer really cheap. :) - 2012ColemanExplorer II

Without fail visit the Naval Air Museum while in Pensacola. It is not to be missed - boopuffExplorerWe are going to the Panhandle this summer. I'm hoping most of the campgrounds will be a bit less crowded!

- NORM_WADDELLExplorerFort Pickens is on an island south of Pensacola.
$1 toll to cross the bridge going south, free
going north. Fort Pickens has 4 'loops', and
most people prefer the first ('A') loop. I
don't know why.
After you cross the$1 bridge onto Santa Rosa island,
you will see high rise condos, restaurants, etc.
NO GROCERY STORES....be supplied. You will turn
right and go about 7 miles on a road with NOTHING
but sand..........very pretty. At the campground
there is a store with often-wanted items. At the
end of the island is Fort Pickens, well worth a
visit.
T V reception is by antenna.........no cable T V.
The beaches (north AND south of the campground) are
fine, with clear water and white sand. You will
walk from the campsite to either beach. Maybe
some of the finest beaches in the world.
Pensacola is a good tourist place........check out the
various sites.
