We are planning our trip next year for AL, MS LA and TX. This would be for June/July along the coast. I do believe those months are during the hurricane season. Has anyone had any issues going during that time? I know I can always watch the weather and plan accordingly. Just wondering if I am thinking too much into it or not.Thanks!

Thinking too much. If we all based our trips on what MIGHT happen we'd never go anywhere. Just went to AK knowing there were wildfire issues. Just have a Plan B and remember even if you get there and there are no issues they can crop up at any time.

It is during Hurricane season but that season doesn't usually peak until late August and September. The chance of getting caught unexpectedly in a tropic storm are minimal. Most of the time the weather guessers will give you plenty of warning before one hits, tho there are rare storms that form just off the coast. And we are in what seems to be a Hurricane Minimal period of history. Not one storm has affected the US this year. And this isn't the only recent year like that.No numbers to back me up, but as a long time Hurricane watcher, I say that Texas, Mexico and Louisiana will see most of the early season storms and those storms tend to be what we call 'rain events'. Minimal wind and lots of rain that form in the Gulf.Every part of the country has some sort of natural events that plague it. Do you avoid California because they have earthquakes and fires?

Earliest strong hurricane that I can remember to hit that area was Allen on August 1 in the early 80s. And that was south TX. June really isn't hurricane season and same for most of July.Go and Enjoy. But always watch the weather regardless of where and when you are.

The only thing I’d be concerned with in hurricane season would be keeping a little closer eye on fuel levels if there is anything forming over the ocean. With a full tank you’ll miss the rush and can get on the road when you need to. You already have the head start of not needing to board up a house and not needing to drive someplace that has a room for you.

we go camping during hurricane season all the time. Camped through a Tropical storm one time. Its not like we get hit by a hurricane all the time. Most years we don't get anything.

Yes, Louisiana roads are horrible at best. I great state to NOT have to drive thru on either the Interstates or side roads either. Good luck!

X2 on La.roads. Rather than 50mph figure around 25-30mph at best.

That's why I`m asking. and a tornados damage path is maybe a 1/4 mile wide and cant be seen a week in advance. a hurricane....a bit more and far more damaging and longer lasting, not to mention you can watch it coming and get out before it happens. which was my comment to my wife, but she wanted input from people that know the area.

Gulfport MS
New Orleans LA
And Galveston TX
Nothing in particular just want to do a lot of Gulf front sites. We like touristy things as well as other simpler things to do.

I think I found some places to stay, just haven’t nailed it down yet!

Yep no problem with the heat. Camped many times in 100+ degree weather!.......on the Gulf it's a wet heat! LOL
Belive it or not in 16 years of RV'ing, we haven't been straight south yet through IL and into the southern states! Looking forward to it.

I survived every hurricane to hit the Texas coast since 1950. Yeah you're overthinking it.
But watch the weather forecasts. Do not wait until a storm is on the coast near you to evacuate.
And yes, are you sure you're ready for the heat?
