Best time of the year in LA and considered great month to visit NOLA. I wouldn't expect campgrounds to be full though. Locals are hunting or watching football on weekends. And by the way, Geaux Tigers!

You did not say where in Louisiana you are planning on going. This is a great time to visit the state. Lots of festivals this time of year all over the state. Come on down and enjoy some Cajun hospitality, food, etc.

For a place to spend a few days, I think you will really enjoy Betty's RV Park located in Abbeville,LA.

Be aware that if your planning on touring Mansions on the Trace to check hours and dates; most have some weird hours and dates.

We love it around Breaux Bridge for Cajun country. Poches Fish and Camp.

Sounds like we picked a busy time of the year for our jaunt. From Panama City, FL along the coast camping along the way stopping at Davis Bayou, Fontainebleau SP or Fairview Riverside SP through to Sam Houston Jones SP before heading north to Natchez SP, MS. More than likely we won't go into NOLA and are not big on festivals or such. Don't really care for cities nor crowds, love nature. Should we expect crowded campgrounds? We are making no reservations as we are not sure of our time table. Camp out of a B and only need electric.

I love Fairview and Madisonville is a beautiful little town on the Tchefuncte River. Fontainebleu is on Ponchartrain and also nice. It's outside Mandeville so the Park is the attraction, not that it's not a beautiful park.

Don't say you aren't big on festivals without at least researching the LA festivals that week. Most LA festivals are about one thing - food, good food, great food. The Crawfish Festival in Breaux Bridge is king but that's in Spring, I think May.

I'd say reservations depend on if you there on a weekend.

Thanks for everyone's comments about the timing. I didn't say quite where we're going, because we haven't really decided, but the basic idea is from Natchez MS to NOLA, then west to Lake Fausse Point SP, then north to Arkansas.

We are interested in food festivals along the way.

Looking at football schedules, I see that Nov 7 is Tulane's homecoming, and Nov 8 is a Saint's home game, so that might be a good weekend to avoid.
