Idaho SP's

We are planning a trip to Utah next spring. Looking for Idaho SP input. We have stayed at and we love Hell's Gate SP in Lewiston. Looking for input as possible stops along way on these Idaho SP's as well:

Ponderosa SP - McCall, ID
Lake Cascade SP
Bruneau Dunes SP - Mt. Home

Looking to take about a month to make it to S.Utah and then back home. Been/done the 5 NP loop in S. Utah before but we are hoping to have friends accompany us so they can experience it also.

A lot of the terrain between here and there is new to us. We want to stay 2 or 3 nights at each stop along the way so we can relax and see experience the scenery.

We're open to your ideas.
  • Consider Wallcott Lake Sate Park in Idaho. Large sites and beautiful lake and lots of grass.
  • We have always enjoyed staying at Three Island Crossing along I-84.
  • Lake Cascade SP consist of multiple campgrounds, some primitive, some with full hook ups, all on the banks of the lake. Also, there are several NFS campgrounds on the west side of the lake. All told, there are more than 300 camp sites that are part of the SP system. There is awesome fishing on the lake, on the river and at Horse thief Reservoir just 8 miles east.

We have 4 good restaurants, 1 small grocery store, 1 drug store, 3 gas stations, 1 tackle shop and multiple parks for your use.

If you want specific info, fell free to PM me.
  • Be sure and check the Idaho S.P. website for water problems. This year, they had some contaminated water at a couple of parks in the southern part of the state, along I-84.
  • Vote number 2 for Three Island State park. Also if you stay at ISP there is a Senior Discount, think it's Sunday-Thursday, $10 a night. Also like Crater of the Moon National Monument camping and maybe City of Rocks.

X2 Three Island Crossing is one of the nicest parks we stayed at on our trip to Utah this year
