Is Beavers Bend State Park usually busy at the end of Sept?

We've stopped at Beavers Bend a few times when passing through OK on our way to Arkansas but never stayed overnight. We've decided to spend a few nights there this trip and are planning to arrive on Friday afternoon, Sept. 27th. Is anyone familiar with this Park? Can we expect to find a site available that will accomodate our 40 ft motorhome?
  • This is one of THE most popular parks in OK and particularly during the fall, but probably more so during the summer. I would call and make reservations (basic info here) with phone: (580) 494-6300. It will get more popular as the trees turn the 1st or 2nd weekend in November. Here's a map of the park, and I believe they have one area that is reserved. None of the RV parks have sewer. Full Hook up is at Broken Bow Lake. Here's a good list of the RV sites around Beaver's Bend. The park has the most beautiful sites close to the river and the area is gorgeous, hence the reason for its popularity. The first two weeks of November are probably already booked, if you want that time, but good luck.
  • They have a big craft show there in early November and it is usually very full around that time. We've been there in October and it was busy but did have some open spots. As ClaireOKC mentioned they do have 31 sites that can be reserved from March through November subject to availability. It is a beautiful area. The road going in from the highway does have some inclines and sharp turns so take it slow. Enjoy your stay.
  • Thanks for the information. I guess I should call and try to reserve something.
