Hello:
Planning a trip to Yellowstone in August and returning through Jackson Hole. Does any know of a FH CG near there that don't want an arm and a leg? $120 and up?
thanks

Wow, expensive. Supply and Demand?
There is something special about camping in an RV.

I know there seems to be a lot of disdain for KOAs on this site, however, we enjoyed our time at the Jackson Hole/Snake River KOA. It is about 5 or 6 miles south of Jackson near the 191/89 hwy junction. The setting is awesome as it is right on the Snake River although the RV spots are up and away from being directly on the river. Very peaceful setting though. You can even get picked up at the front of the park for doing a rafting trip which is down stream a number of miles.

I actually brought my kayaks and put-in up the river a few miles and took-out right at the KOA. I would love to go back there some day.

Surely any rig worth keeping can go more than a few nights without FHU.

Gros Ventre has no reservation sites with power. Don't roll in late afternoon & expect to get one that's all.

Headwaters Flagg ranch is about 2 miles from south entrance of Yellowstone, which is close to 1hr south of Old Faithful.

Actually, Colter Bay campground does have some electric-only sites, but hard to get them without a medical reason. There are 10 or 12 sites with electric and I believe the campground folks keep at least half of them for folks who really need electricity, like C-Pap machines, etc.

Just FYI, there is an eclipse on Aug 21 -- the whole Teton region will be very busy at that time.

Strange....This is the first time I've heard of the electric sites called a RV park. Those sites are within the 'campground' which has 300 dry camping sites for RVs up to 45'. None of the sites, dry camping or electric, are reservable.

Here is the description for the whole complex:

The Gros Ventre RV Park is the closest to the town of Jackson (approximately 9 miles Northeast). Surrounded by cottonwood trees, bordered by the Gros Ventre River, and with views of the Grand Teton Mountain Range this RV Park is truly magnificent!

With just over 45 individual RV sites, the Gros Ventre Campground offers RVers the best views of wildlife as they make their way to the shores of the Gros Ventre River. Although none of the sites are on the river, all are within walking distance.

RV Sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are limited electrical hooks ups.

Try to stay in Grand Teton Nat'l Park at Colter Bay RV. It's the best place. The RV parks in Jackson are the pits and are very expensive. Headwaters RV is also nearby but Colter Bay is much, much better.

Do you need full hookups? In the national park are two great dry campgrounds and each has 300 non-reservable sites. We've been there with our 40' MH all seasons and always go a spot. Gros Ventre is fairly close to Jackson and it's our favorite.
