Kalaloch vs South Beach at Olympic NP

33 Foot TT -- Mid to Late May

What are the pros/cons of Kalaloch which take Reservations vs South Beach does not.

I read the reviews at http://www.rvparkreviews.com and it appears that South Beach has a better beach view.
  • Kal: most spaces too small for your coach.
SB: I don't think it's open before Mem day. You'll fit fine. During good weather you'll need to arrive on a weekday morning, preferably a Tuesday.
  • Kalaloch sites too small. South Beach sites are more open & larger.
  • South beach is open May 20 – September 18. It's basically a gravel parking lot with tables and fire rings. First come first served. No privacy at all. If you stand at one end, you can see every rig in the entire campground. Yes, close to the water and no view obstructions (other than the other rigs). Wide open the wind coming in off of the Pacific Ocean.

Kalaloch is a real campground. Individual campsites. Reservations, but they can be hard to come by. Not very many have water views, and the ones that do are hard to get. But the ones in the trees are protected from the wind.

Both campgrounds have the same trailer size guidelines: 21’ (some for up to 35’)
  • Might be a to far south for you but we love Pacific Beach State Park or might be to far North is Elwha Dam RV Park.

This is just not so...sorry. I fit my 33 foot TT into Kalaloch with ease. Some sites are small but there are plenty that will contain you. And for my money Kalaloch is much better and technically it is still part of the park.

Some of this...sites are too small...issue is how people drive not how big their trailers/rigs are.
  • if not too far out of the way, consider Salt Creek Rec Area
