Looking for suggestions on campgrounds within a 5hr ride of the Philadelphia metro area that have water access for kayaking. We are new to kayaking, so nice calm water would be preferable. Thanks!
We love the Philadelphia/West Chester KOA which has direct access to the Brandywine River which is gentle and often crystal clear. Also very close to home. Check out pictures from our blog:
Yogi Bear Jellystone in Natural Bridge, VA. Nice campground on James River. We go for a week every summer. Perfect for kayaking and many other activities.
Westmoreland State park near Montross VA right on the POTOMAC (Virginia Side) has launch for boats and the such. Great camp ground too. Always see alot kayaks there during the summer months.

If you're willing to drive to Indiana, Summit Lake State Park has an idle zone lake, and very seldom anyone with motors are actually on it, unless they are fishing with battery operated motors.
We really love Summit Lake because we have a canoe and it's so calm and peaceful.
Also, Potato Creek State Park in Indiana (Near South Bend) in the Northern part of Indiana has a REALLY nice idle zone lake also that's perfect for paddle boats. This is our second most favorite spot.
