We're on our first trip, meeting family from Colorado in KC. We are staying at the KOA East Kansas City in Oak Grove.
The site itself is good, easy to get into an set up at. It's November so not many people here right now. We haven't used any of the facilities so I can't speak to them.
What I do want to highlight is that this appears to be a great spot for a trip to the KC area, especially coming in from the East. The KOA is at exit 28, there is a TA and Petrol at the exit. In additions there are several fast food restaurants and a Walmart. All about 5 minutes away. More shopping (Target/Lowes) a few exits to the West. The only detractor, not a big issue for us this trip, is the lack of real restaurants. A few exits to the West is more shopping (Target/Lowes) and restaurants.
We took a day trip in to KC and were very happy. We took the kids to the National World War I museum and Lego Land Discovery all centrally located in Downtown. The kids had a great time at the museum. It was very impressive and would highly recommend it. Lego Land was ok, not sure we would do that again. The Crown Center, across the street from Lego Land looked really neat. Lots of shopping for DW. It had a Crayola Store that the kids enjoyed. Lunch was at A Street Car Named Desire, it did the job but wouldn't go back. It only took us about 30mins to get downtown from the campsite.
DW has said we would definitely come back during summer at some point. There is a Schlitterbahn, KC Chiefs/Royals games, lakes and parks nearby.
Definitely a location I'd recommend for a family with young kids.
