Kentucky Camping
My wife and I are looking to do a couple weeks of camping in Kentucky this summer.Just wondered if anyone has camped there and could recommend a few campgrounds? Any help would be appreciated.We are going sometime in May or June.

- Check out the "Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area" A very large area that does not get a lot of use. Look up the Blue Heron campground. Very similar to the Natural Bridge and red river gorge area but not as many people and a little bigger. It's on the border of KY and TN. Its close to Cumberland falls and lake Cumberland. Has Yahoo falls which is the highest waterfall in KY and plenty of other activities.
- Ive been to lots of campgrounds in KY as I live here. If you like the lake experience we do have to s of large lakes and most of the have really nice State run campgrounds. We spend a lot of time at Green River lake as we have a boat there, but we have been to most of the big lakes here and theyre all nice.
You mentioned Dale Hollow. Dale Hollow is an amazing lake. Gin clear water, very large and great fishing. Also an excellent lake for diving if youre into that. Dale is definitely the best lake Ive been to. - Thank you to everyone for all the replies,this gives us a lot of choices to think about.I forgot to tell in my post,we have a 19h Jayco hybrid so we can get into most places,yet is plenty of room for the two of us and our minni Doxie . - What size RV do you have?? Cumberland Falls was neat back when we had a 27' fiver, but I don't think I would try it with my current 35 footer (unless they have upgraded some of the sites and roads.)
- What do you like to do in camp? Do you prefer quiet and solitude or full amenities and lots of neighbors? Most state parks here (in KY) are amazing and offer quite a lot to choose from. Cumberland Falls S.P. is nice, but not for larger campers, Cater Caves S.P. is super family-friendly with lots to do, but the spaces may be somewhat close for some. Big South Fork is great for outdoors, but is fairly isolated. Land Between the Lakes has a number of private and public options, with lots to do, but is popular and may be crowded when you go. There are a great many others, but knowing what you are looking for would help with suggestions.

- Kentucky SPs are the best around. Natural Bridge, Cumberland Falls & Yatesville Lake are great. Land Between the Lakes is a very nice area as well, with SPs, COE CGs, and private CGs aplenty.
- Boonsboro State Park, Carter Caves, Horse Park, and Jenny Wiley if you would like to see an outdoor drama. All very nice cg.
