Kings Canyon --Sequoia NP -- Long TT where oh where !!!

33 foot TT -- 65 feet overall

We want to visit these NP in June but know our length may be a problem. Dry camping or boondocking outside the NP is OK.

Any suggestions on where to camp.
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

We had the best time staying at Sequoia RV Ranch in Kaweah. It's near Three Rivers and is a rustic RV Park right next to the Kaweah River. It's close to Sequoia NP for day trips into the park. Full Hook ups and Big Rig friendly.

We stayed in Dunlap in October, west of the parks, in a 40' motorhome with a toad. The park wasn't great, but it had level sites with good hookups and the location was what made it great. We would return to this park--30 minutes from the big trees.

Azalea might work -- talk to the rangers at the Kings Canyon Visitors Center. Otherwise, there is an adequate full hookup park in Squaw Valley, near Dunlap. But it is quite a drive from there into the park.

The other option is the RV park in Three Rivers, at the south end of the park. Again, a bit of a drive up to Lodgepole, but not impossible.

One more thought -- check into Potwisha Campground near the south entrance on 198. It might be able to fit big rigs --again, the rangers at the Ash Mtn Visitors Center will be your best bet.

Finally, if you are feeling brave, there is some boondocking/dry camping at Big Meadows in the Horse Corral area that might fit a big rig. Talk to the Sequoia Natl Forest Rangers in the Dunlap office -- they are in charge of the Hume Lake Ranger District.

All of these options will be crowded on weekends -- try to time your arrival for mid-week.

Good luck!

33 feet? :E Sounds like you have a lot of passengers. Way to go!

I would add that you call the cgs in which you're interested and ask about actual site lengths. In some cgs we visited, the longer TTs were parked at the site but the owners parked their tow vehicle in a separate parking lot at the main building or nearby. Remember to lock your vehicles.

I had my 35' FW in Azalea CG which made it very convenient to visit both areas. It was a funny place though because the view out my dinnette window was nothing but one tree.
