Lake George Camping

Thanks for all the tips. Looks like it will be Lake George RV Park.
This is the first time we are doing this should be fun.

Go spend your $$$$$$ in Lake George at one of the parks that have great reviews as mentioned above. Then when you go to the Falls, save a little and stay at NYS Four Mile Creek Park. No sewer or water but there are spigots to fill up in all loops. Great playground and new bathhouse in one of the loops. Then take the parkway up to the Falls and park free and take the tram to visit the spots on the New York side. Be sure to do Maid of the Mist; it is a great way to get up close. If you can get over to the CA side, do so it has a lot of touristy type places that you may enjoy. You can park on the US side and walk over if you have passports. If you want to visit a place in between Lake George and the Falls, take in one of the Finger Lakes and visit a winery or two. Thanks for visiting our state.

I live in the Lake George region and LG campground is located about 5 miles south of the village of Lake George. It is less than a 5 minute walk from great outlet shops, about 5 miles to a Six flags theme park and several golf course near by. I havent myself stayed there but its very well maintained. There are several others just North of LG in the Schroon river area that are more adironack themed (less asphalt more grass and trees)and are located right on the Schroon for easy fishing and kayaking. These campgrounds are about 15 minutes away from the village. Good luck and enjoy our Region.

We stayed at Lake George RV Park a few weeks ago and had a great time. It's huge, shady, peaceful, easy in and out with plenty to do. And if you live in the south like we do, the cool temps were a shock to the system but we enjoyed it.

I just stayed at Moose Hillock and loved it. Very quiet mostly because the sites are huge. It is brand spanking new so it still looks like the bulldozers just pulled out. Lake George RV park is really nice as well but to me its tight and over crowded. JMO

We did a similar drive through at Lake Compounce in CT just a few weeks ago. New campground opened on July 1...place was barren too, but in a few years once the new trees start growing in place the campground should look much better.

Would love to find an excuse to see Moose Hillock in NY... place just looks awesome on their web page. Hoping to get up there in the near future.

King Phillips is the only rv park which has easy access to downtown Lake George via bike and is the closest to the Village. Lake George Escape and Moose Hillock are both way out of the way to Lake George village, outlets, beaches.

I too, would stay at Lake George RV Park, it's simply the best.

Don't have any experience with the parks in Lake George. We typically avoid that area in favor of the other parts of the Adirondacks. If you have 3 weeks to work with, my recomendation would be to hit a couple stops between LG and the Falls. Old Forge (Old Forge Camping Resort, or one of the many great state parks) would be worth a stop.

Then make a stop in the Finger Lakes when headed to Niagara Falls. Watkins Glen has a KOA or a good state park (reserve early for electric) and/or stop at Letchworth SP.

In Niagara Falls, we stayed at the Niagara Falls ON KOA last year. Very nice, great location, and priced accordingly - plus you have the border crossing. But if you are going over, check them out. We also stayed at the Grand Island KOA on the US side in June. That wasn't a bad cg and the location is convienient. There are some good state parks up on the shore of Ontario, but they are farther away from the Falls.
